FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We've compiled a few of the things we usually get asked to help make the process easier, but please touch base with us if you have any questions about our services or  your wedding needs.

Do you offer both Ceremony and Reception music?

Yes, by all means. Although our specialty package is for Ceremony and Canapés, this is easily extended to cater for background music during the main meal, cake cutting and even the first dance. However, we are not a Reception Wedding Band, so once it's time to tear up the dance floor, we gladly step aside and let the DJ take over!

Can we come to a performance before we make a booking?

Yes, absolutely. Dave is  performing in public venues at least three times a week, and you're most welcome to come along if you'd like to hear songs in person.

How many musicians will be playing?

Sydney Wedding Guitarist is a one man wedding band! SWG's main artist is seasoned guitar soloist and wedding singer, Dave Calandra. Dave can perform beautiful acoustic guitar instrumentals and play and sing a number of contemporary and original songs. Working and performing on his own for weddings allows Dave to provide quality music while taking up little space, and competitive pricing in comparison to a large wedding band.

Do you provide your own equipment?

Yes. The booking fee includes supply and set-up of all equipment. A battery powered system is also available for more remote locations.

Can the celebrant use your microphone?

In certain circumstances this can be an option, but it is not advisable for a number of reasons. If needed, we do provide equipment for hire as an additional service, so the celebrant can use their own microphone and speaker for a seamless ceremony.

Where will you set up at the ceremony?

Depending on the location and space, we usually set-up on the opposite side of the aisle to the signing table. In extreme weather (heat or rain) we will need to be under the nearest shelter to perform.

Can you recommend songs for the ceremony?

Of course. Choosing the right songs for your ceremony is very important, and we are happy to send through some suggestions. Email Dave for more details.

Should we have music as guests arrive before the ceremony?

Absolutely. It makes a huge difference to the mood of the ceremony if guests are made to feel welcome and comfortable with relaxing background music. Sydney Wedding Guitarist recommends starting half an hour before the ceremony and we have a few packages to cover your ceremony music. Here are some other thoughts on music for your wedding day.

Can you learn songs for us if they aren’t on your list?

With a few exceptions, most songs can be interpreted on guitar. When learning a song Dave endeavours to play it in his own style so that it won’t be exactly the same as the original version, but it will always sound wonderful! This service often incurs an additional fee depending on the workload involved, so it’s always best to send through any song ideas well ahead of time and then we can bounce around a few options.

Will you liaise with venue event staff and wedding planners?

Of course. Part of our role is making your wedding day as easy and hassle free as possible, so we regularly liaise with event staff and wedding planners to trouble shoot any logistical hurdles that might pop up along the way.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance?

Indeed. Our certificate of currency is always up to date and can be provided to you or directly to any venue/local council upon request.

How do I book you for a wedding?

Head to our bookings page and send us a request. From there, we require a deposit via direct transfer to secure the date. Email Dave when you're ready to proceed with the booking, and we'll send over bank details.
